Photo
In response to and inspired by the critique of my previous submission (thanks, Barbara and Chris!) I tried to put some more drama into this alternative, wider shot by adding a strong vignette, also making it more contrasty. This is actually a second try-out - the first version got much too murky and dark overall, so I deleted it (no crits, no comments, deservedly).
Shot at 11mm/22mm, f/10.0, 1/125sec, ISO400.

Although i liked the first attempt this image has more drama and engages emotionally to a greater extent. i just looked at your collection and you do a fine job with landscape and still life. Really, great to view. Perhaps you should consider making a radical turn into another subject to stir the creative juices? Portraiture? Macro? i do not mean to be presumptuous but i have found this approach stimulating. I am much less skilled than you with much to learn. KBO ..Paul

Thank you for your words, Paul. My thoughts have wandered to the same direction ("radical turn") and have been gained strength and form because of your words (and Barbara's and Chris's). I still don't see an obvious way to go, though ... for portraiture I'd need a model (nobody in the family has volunteered). I've done macro shots and will make more some day, but at least living macro subjects are bound to be scarce for the next 6 months (winter...). We'll see ... Thanks again.
