Sorry for the TD Robert, but lacking of overall sharpness and missing focus on bird head are big flaws, these elements are the most important thing that I viewers' would pay particular attention on, I found the speaking pose of the heron is nice though.
Cheers......Edwin

Hi Edwin, thanks for your thoughtful comment. You are right the softness is the biggest flaw of this image. Sharpness is lost after cropping and uploading. Cheers Robert.

hi Robert, Nice timing to capture the heron in mid-squawk, and I like how you've given the bird plenty of room in the frame to look into. Exposure looks fine, but the biggest issue is that the picture looks blurry. I'm not sure what the issue is with the focus. Were your hands perhaps shaking too much? I have problems with shaky hands and even at the faster shutter speeds the camera movement can make my pictures blurry.
I'm not sure about your lens. Whenever I use my zoom lens at the maximum zoom, my pictures don't seem as sharp. Another possibility is that the image got blurry after resizing it. Some resizing methods I've tried have turned a well-focused image into a blurred one. I've found that bicubic resizing in 90% increments seems to work the best in terms of losing less sharpness.
Hopefully you'll get another opportunity to shoot this heron. Cheers! sheila

Hi Sheila, it is so good to receive your comment. I appreciate your time and helpful advice. Though I do not have strong hands this shot was taken with the help of window fence as support. I might have cropped too much and uploaded a too large image that it looks so soft as if my hands were shaking. I sure will try your method of resizing. Thanks very much. Best regards Robert.

The action is good and very interesting bird, unfortunately the focus is not good. And that detracts from the image, is just my view. Best regards. Mario
